Sometimes I feel really lucky.
I know that these days, its rare to really love your job, but the past two days in the clinic have been great. Exhausting, but great. I am finally seeing all the details of path, pharm, and medicine all come together and it's wonderful. Not the "whoopee!" type of wonderful, but the full of wonder wonderful.
I know I'm a nerd. I really enjoy learning, but never thought of why I like it. I think it's that feeling of the lights starting to turn on; the feeling of excitement when things come together that I enjoy. It's feeling like a kid again and being in awe of everything you see around you. It's the ability to derive pleasure from something really simple - something others take for granted.
I can only imagine what it's like for babies to see something for the first time. I think learning takes me back there, but this time I can appreciate how amazing things are...and I feel really lucky.
My 'ah-ha' moment of the day: A bitch in metaestrus came in with pyometra. During the surgery we saw that she had cystic ovaries...afterwards, I opened up her uterus to find that the endometrium was cystic and hyperplastic. The awesome part is that I remembered the disease and the pathogenesis. =) Yay me!
Tomorrow, I am going in to the office, then to Rx, then to the clinic, and then off to band practice. We've got a plane to earn!! =P
